Peter Moore sheds some light on the subject

Peter Moore is now the president of Electronic Arts' Sports label, doing everything he can so that fans will get even more excited about the yearly titles that his company produces. But for those of you who don't know, Moore also acted as the president of Microsoft's Xbox 360 division a few years ago and has the Halo 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV tattoos to prove it.

Even though the executive hasn't been with the Redmond-based company, he recently talked about the corporation's plans for a motion-sensitive controller, about which a lot of speculation has recently appeared. Analysts have expressed their opinion that Microsoft intends to beat Nintendo at its own game, by releasing a motion-sensitive controller similar to the Wii Remote.

“I think that, knowing Microsoft in particular, obviously, is that they are constantly thinking three to five years ahead of where consumer behavior is going to be,” Moore says, while trying to carefully avoid the question of the motion-sensitive controls. He bets that Microsoft is thinking about “how do people want to interact with their games and probably thinking about now how do we replicate motion control, but how we go one step further.”

With Moore estimating that the company thinks about three to five years ahead, it's pretty clear that, if during his reign there were no plans for such things, then he would deny it now. However, such statements seem to reveal that we might just get up and start moving around in the near future, thanks to the Xbox 360 and not only to the Wii.

Hopefully, we will get to see some clear announcements from Microsoft at the upcoming E3 conference, which will take place this summer and promises to bring heavy disclosures from all of the companies attending.
