The iPhone version of Wii Sports possible only with the help of the iPhone SDK

Well-known video games developer Freeverse (formerly Freeverse Software) just couldn't take the excitement anymore (the upcoming SDK) and blew the whistle on its latest iPhone project. Let me ask you this: how would you like Wii Sports on your iPhone?

"Everyone at Freeverse is in love with their iPhones, and we've got some terrific ideas for new games and applications. Some ideas we're keeping under wraps for a while, but a few we really just couldn't wait to share," says Freeverse on its web site.

Flick Sports is the developer's latest addition to the lineup of iPhone games. Using the device's unique flick/pinch feature, Freeverse is working on a total of four iPhone titles, that look (and probably play) very similar to Nintendo's Wii Sports compilation of games. Games included in the Flick Sports Pack that use the upper-mentioned features are Golf, Bowling, Soccer, and Baseball for starters, according to the New York-based developer.

Check out the screens to the left (click to enlarge). Freeverse describes its upcoming sports games as "fun, colorful and quick," which are "ideal for a modern mobile platform." As the three iPhone grabs reveal, Freeverse is in business. All they need right now is for Apple to roll out that long-awaited SDK.

Moto Racing is the fifth Flick Sports title. The moto-racing game is the only one of the bunch that uses the iPhone's cool accelerometer, which has players tilting the device to one side or another to steer the bike.

Last week, we talked about this other game called Trism, that uses the same control scheme plus touchscreen. This Bejeweled-like puzzle game is due out soon, so I suggest you check this one out too (gameplay demonstration inside).

Anyway, aside the intuitive control scheme, Freeverse's motorized title also sports a bunch of cool characters and a touch of humor, as most Freeverse games do.

Freeverse has recently delivered TotemBall to the Xbox 360 system from Microsoft. The Xbox Live Arcade musical action game was released in collaboration with Strange Flavour, being published by MS Game Studios. It takes advantage of the Xbox Live Vision camera with the camera tracking the players' hand movements. I wouldn't be too surprised if iPhone owners were to get their platform's version of the game from Freeverse, with the iPhone's tracking hand movements (gestures) through its touchscreen abilities.

Freeverse advises readers to "stay tuned for iPhone / iPod news." Be sure that Softpedia's Apple news editor will be typing his hands off that day.
