The new PoP experience will bring us a host of new things

The game that, unlike what happens with most of the sequels, gets better and better with each new iteration released - Prince of Persia - has just received the first official trailer and a host of game features to get us all excited! And they did manage to do that - we are still put under the spell of the teaser trailer and we can hardly wait to finally play PoP with an ally. A beautiful one, as any prince deserves.

The game will present the Prince caught in an epic battle between the God of Light, Ormazd and his brother Ahriman, the God of Darkness - yes, it is a clich?, but that doesn't matter that much for now. The latter God manages to destroy the Tree of Life - an act which threatens to plunge the world into eternal darkness. Our Prince will have to solve all the problems - but this time, he won't be alone. He will have to partner with beautiful but deadly spell caster and warrior Elika and heal the world from evil.

"In so many ways the original Prince of Persia franchise set the standard for the action-adventure video game genre," said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ubisoft. "With the new Prince of Persia, we not only have a brand-new Prince, but an epic storyline and captivating universe that gives players a truly compelling gameplay experience that continues to elevate the genre to new heights."

Among the features announced for the new Prince of Persia game, we have a lot of great news: for the first time in the franchise, we'll get an open world structure, meaning that now you will have complete control on the evolution of the game and, as well, you'll get a completely non-linear adventure. Also, Elika, Prince's new ally, will unfortunately be just an AI-controlled character (there's still time for Ubisoft to change their minds), but the developers promise that she will always prove to be a really helpful addition. Let's hope they're right.

If you're hoping for some graphical delight, you'll get it: the game will be developed using the Anvil engine (the same used for Assassin's Creed)! It will be released during this Holiday season for next-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as PC systems.
