14 DAY TRIAL // NBC and David E. Kelley are already busily working on the pilot for the upcoming “Wonder Woman” series: the first photos of Adrianne Palicki in character have emerged online.
After years of talk of a feature film with the beloved heroine and plans for it went sour, fans had at least some compensation upon hearing that a brand new series would be made.
The “series” in question is more of a “pilot episode” for the time being, since it hasn’t been picked up just yet. However, chances are it will, especially judging by the hype the project has generated.
Adrianne Palicki had been cast as Wonder Woman and, hopefully, equipped with the new (and improved, some would argue) suit, which replaces the shorts with pants, she will get to prove nay-sayers wrong.
As PopEater puts it, those who say the project is already dead in the water, even before airing (for various reasons, including that the casting and costume are wrong), should wait to see the pilot before passing judgment.
Based on photos alone, Palicki seems to be doing a good job: she was pictured in Los Angeles, running among traffic while looking terribly upset about something – some evildoer, perhaps.
“The ‘Friday Night Lights’ alum was spotted in her full Wonder Woman gear, running through the streets of Hollywood late last night, looking fierce in her red bustier,” the e-zine says.
It also quotes the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, as saying that fans should not judge until they have something to judge Palicki for. In other words, hold on at least until the pilot airs before making up your mind about this.
“You know, I’m very sensitive to the fact that she will be compared... There’s no getting around it. It is what it is. I would hope that people would cut her some slack,” the actress said a while back, as cited by the aforementioned publication.
Elizabeth Hurley will also be making an appearance in the pilot, playing villain Veronica Cale. No release date has been announced so far.
