Sony has shown off the first images of the Move powered edition of Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain which is now set to be released before this year's Christmas rolls around.

The game is getting a new control scheme that allows players who purchase the Move motion tracking system to control the characters more intuitively and using more natural gestures.

Those who already own Heavy Rain will be able to download a patch for the game from the PlayStation Network to enable support for the new peripherals and a boxed version will also be launched. The company is not yet talking about a specific launch date probably because of the already tightly packed fall release schedule.

The official PlayStation blog says “Heavy Rain Move Edition is played using a PlayStation Move motion controller to complete actions and a PlayStation Move navigation controller or DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller to move your character. But if you want the full experience we’d strongly recommend you play with a PlayStation Move motion controller and a navigation controller.”   It seems that all the downloadable content the game received will also work with Move.

Ross Alexander, the European production manager for the Move edition of Heavy Rain, is also promising fans of the game some trailers before the launch date and interview with director David Cage and producer Guillaume de Fondaumiere, probably talking about how the addition of motion tracking changes the way their game is played and experienced.

The Sony executive has also confirmed that at the moment the resources linked to Heavy Rain are focused on putting out a Move compatible experience with the Chronicles extra content that was promised before the launch of the game on hold at the moment.

David Cage has already said that his team is not working on a sequel to Heavy Rain and that they are focused on delivering another experience using some of the tech developed for the game.
