Limited time means hard choices have to be made

David Cage, the head of Cuantic Dream, has recently declared that he didn't think more packs of downloadable content would be released for Heavy Rain. He added that implementing PlayStation Move support in the original game left his team no time for fully developing the other small expansions he had planned.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Cage explained, “The stories were very strong and would have been very surprising for all Heavy Rain fans. Sony wanted more AAA adult games to support the Move and they thought that Heavy Rain was the perfect fit. For me, there was really a choice to make, because I did not want to postpone the work on our next projects spending one more year on Heavy Rain, and given the time and attention we put in developing our games, this is what it would have meant.”

He went on to say that he felt really good about Heavy Rain Move Edition. He added that he was proud of the way his team had integrated Sony's motion controller in the original gameplay and that this would prove PlayStation Move could be used successfully in other types of projects, not only family or party entertainment software.

There has been only one segment released in the Chronicles DLC series for Heavy Rain. The package is called The Taxidermist and follows one of the main characters of the game, Madison, as she visits Leland White, a taxidermist, to ask him some questions regarding the Origami Killer. Heavy Rain Chronicles: Episode One - The Taxidermist is available for PlayStation 3 owners for 5 dollars.

The Heavy Rain Move Edition was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo and will be released sometime this year, after the launch of PlayStation Move. Owners of the original version of Heavy Rain will be happy to know that Move support will be patched to this version as well, the developers not leaving anyone out of the motion control drama.
