The first piece of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released in February, as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, and pack four new maps and a new scenario for the zombie mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops crushed its opposition and broke records in terms of sales back in November, when it was released for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Now, Treyarch, its development studio, has confirmed, while talking with Xbox Live Community Manager Larry Hryb on his podcast, the details about the game's first downloadable content.

As you would expect, the new DLC consists of a map pack, containing four new levels for the regular multiplayer mode, and one new scenario for the game's co-operative zombie mode.

Two of multiplayer maps are based on locations from the singleplayer campaign, Hong Kong and the Arctic Circle, while two take place in some rather unusual settings: the Berlin Wall and an ice hockey stadium (Call of Duty on ice, anyone?).

No details about the new zombie map were given, sadly, but expect to be shooting up the undead as either J.F. Kennedy, Fidel Castro, Richard Nixon or Robert McNamara in another unusual place.

As with the DLC for the previous Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 2, the new content for Black Ops will be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 platform.

Continuing the partnership between Microsoft and Activision, Black Ops' publisher, the new DLC will be out on February 1 on the Xbox Live Marketplace, retailing for $15 or 1200 MS Points.

Judging from the DLC release for Modern Warfare 2, PC and PlayStation 3 owners might get the new maps after a month or so.

Expect more details about the new maps to be shown in the following weeks, as we approach the release date of the DLC.

Until then, Treyarch is working hard on solving all of the problems encountered by owners of the game, especially on the PlayStation 3 platform.
