The latest smartphone release from Research in Motion is the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, a device that brings solutions to a large number of communication needs. What this device holds particularly special is that it is the first one coming from this producer that also brings compatibility with CDMA networks.

The 8130 model follows the design lines of previous BlackBerry Pearl smartphones. The handset is great for handling emails and messaging, although it dropped the classic QWERTY keypad for a SureType one that takes up less space.

One highly appealing feature on the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 handset is that it also includes GPS, as many other mobile phones now look to offer their users. Moreover, it also adds support for high-speed EV-DO networks. The only disadvantage might be that the smartphone has a regular screen with a resolution of 240 x 260 pixels. That's not bad, but many people expect to see touchscreen on the most evolved mobile phones. The phone also includes a 2 megapixel camera, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.

"With its unique blend of functionality and design, the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone has been turning heads and winning praise from business users and consumers alike", said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. "The new BlackBerry Pearl 8130 builds on all the great features and aesthetic design that people love about the BlackBerry Pearl and offers an exceptional new choice for CDMA customers that are looking to upgrade their mobile phone", he also stated.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 will be available in the colors of silver and amethyst from CDMA carriers in North America starting this November. There is no information concerning the carrier that will support this phone's release, although it should come for the price of USD 200 with a two-year contract.
