The final version of Firefox for Android 5.0 is now available for download via the Android Market, following the availability of a beta version for the past several weeks.

The new flavor of the mobile application comes as the first final version following the adoption of a fast release system for the mobile browser, the same as for the desktop variant.

Firefox for Android 5.0 comes with a new feature that made it in the different versions of the browser that landed on various desktop operating systems out there, namely Do Not Track.

Firefox for Android includes the Do Not Track privacy feature in this release, making Firefox the first browser to support Do Not Track on multiple platforms,” the company explains.

“Mozilla created Do Not Track to give users more control over the way their browsing behavior is tracked and used on the Web. The feature, which lets users tell websites that they wish to opt-out of online behavioral tracking, is now easier to find in Firefox Preferences.”

However, this is not the only enhancement that the new version of the mobile browser comes with on devices.

Users who will download and install it will also benefit from a series of speed improvements, as well as from better responsiveness, along with increased compatibility with SwiftKey keyboard.

At the same time, the new Firefox for Android 5.0 includes all of the enhancements the beta version did, along with a series of fixes for the various bugs that might have been discovered in the application.

The release notes Mozilla published in the Android Market read: - Added Do Not Track privacy feature, enabling users to tell websites if they prefer to opt-out of online behavioral tracking - Improved page load speed, especially on 3G networks, and improved overall panning responsiveness - Improved compatibility with SwiftKey keyboard - Continued growth to mobile add-ons gallery, including over 20 featured add-ons

As stated above, Firefox for Android 5.0 is the first iteration of the browser to come out as part of the rapid release system Mozilla adopted for it, which should result in the availability of new major versions faster than before.

Those Android users who would like to download and install the latest version of Firefox on their devices should head to the application portal here for that.
