At least this time they're making it official

Duke Nukem fans, get ready for another eye scratching session, as 3D Realms has released a brand new, real-time enemy screenshot, straight from the in-game environment. Click to enlarge the picture to the left. And now DN fans go: "What?! That's it?!" That's right. This is all 3D Realms could come up with since last year, but hey, at least they're making it official this time.

Don't think it was our mistake that it's so small. It's the same everywhere. Anyway, some while ago the company's CEO was proud to announce without a doubt that not only would the game finally ship in the nearby future, but that it would also be a multiplatform title:

"First, we fully admit we're screwed up the development of DNF, and it's now an industry joke. I laugh when I think about it, too. Our fault is that we set the bar too high, and we tried too hard to make the game to beat all games," said Scott Miller. "In the last 18 months we've taken a much more realistic look at the project, we've hired a truckload of experienced help, and I personally believe we are now on the right track&finally [...] The plan is definitely to bring DNF to multiple platforms. We have not announced which ones, yet."

How could they have announced any launching platforms when the game's fans hadn't even seen screenshots of the damned game? Not to mention a trailer or something. And don't be fooled by that 18 months issue, the game's been in development for over a decade now.

But as I was saying above, at least this time they've confirmed that the game coming and the confirmation came straight from studio co-founder, George Broussard: "Just to head off any questions. Real-time in game asset, like the last job ad shot. Taken from a game level with a dark background, on purpose, because we wanted to focus attention on the character."

Too bad some video footage isn't still ready to go on air. Guess we'll just have to wait some more for something like that. Let's just hope it's not another 10 years, in which we'll be seeing some more Prey and Max Payne.
