Marvel, the well-known comic book company, and 343 Industries, the Microsoft spinoff in charge of developing the overall Halo universe, have announced that during this September, fans of the long running videogame series will have a chance to pick up a comic book series based on the Halo: Fall of Reach novel. The team working on the new project will be artist Felix Ruiz and writer Brian Reed.

The two issues that will be tackled by the fresh comic book will be the origin story of Master Chief and the secret that makes Reach one of the most important planets in the universe. The focus will be on how John, one of the boys that were stolen from his family and enrolled into the SPARTAN II program, is transformed into the fighting machine that is Master Chief.

Ruwan Jayatilleke, who is the senior vice president of Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media at Marvel, stated when the announcement was made that “We’re excited to bring this gripping novel to life in graphic fiction form. The Halo universe has produced some of the most compelling science fiction action epics of the century and Fall of Reach is right up there. If you’ve never experienced Halo before, this is a great place to jump on board.”

Until the official launch of Halo: Fall of Reach – Boot Camp in September, fans will have a chance to read interviews with the creative team behind the project on the Waypoint destination on Xbox Live.

Halo: Reach is the last videogame in the series that is being created by Bungie and will allow players to join others in the desperate defense of the planet from the forces of the Covenant. The company promises an engaging single player campaign answering as many questions as it offers and a multiplayer built around unique loadouts for various SPARTANs.
