Microsoft and Bungie are already working hard to spike up interest in Halo: Reach, the shooter featuring Spartan that is set to be launched later in the year. And, in what is becoming a sort of a trend in the videogame world, Reach should get a live action short film, named Birth of a Spartan, which will be aired on television networks and will show how a normal young man becomes a more than human fighting machine.

Birth of a Spartan is 60-second long and will be shown on networks like Sky Sports 2, Comedy Central, Spike TV, Bravo, FX, TNT and TBS. A version of it will also be shown in movie theaters, before the premiere of Iron Man 2.

The protagonist of the short movie is Carter 259, the man turned Spartan who is set to lead Team Noble into battle in Halo: Reach. Never before have fans seen how a man actually becomes something more to combat the alien threat and the bio augmentation procedure candidates undertake. Themes like courage, self-sacrifice and honor will be touched on as part of the live short.

There's an official website linked with the new Halo-themed movie and fans of the series can also use it to upload a photo of themselves and get an image showing them in the Spartan III armor. Those who love their Halo lore and also have an Xbox Live Gold subscription can look forward to an extended version of the short, clocking in at 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

This is all done just as the beta stage for Halo: Reach is set to be launched on May 3. The beta will include a variety of multiplayer-oriented modes and will be open to all those who own a new copy of Halo 3: ODST.
