A new flavor of the popular Facebook for Android application is now available for download for all the owners of handsets running under Google's mobile operating system, namely version 1.6.

The new application flavor was spotted into the wild before, but it is only now that users can download it from Google's official application store, the Android Market.

According to the release notes, there are only a few enhancements that were included in the new application iteration, though users will certainly enjoy them.

One of the most appealing improvements in the new application release is the ability to upload videos to the social networking site straight from the device.

Moreover, the software comes with Pages now, and also with various improvements brought to the News Feed.

“Share and stay connected with your friends with the Facebook for Android app,” the software's description in the Android Market reads.

As expected, the Facebook for Android mobile application makes it easy for users to stay connected with their friends over the social networking site, and also enables them to share various links, photos, and more.

“Share status updates from your home screen, chat with your friends, check out your News Feed, review your upcoming Events, look at your friends’ walls and user info, check in to Places to get Deals, upload Photos, share links, check your Messages, and watch videos.”

The application was made available via the Android Market, and the new version 1.6 comes with support for all handsets that run under the Android 1.5 OS flavor or newer.

One thing that should be mentioned, however, is that it is reportedly not supported on devices that run under Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

According to Ausdroid, the app is not available for download for Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1v, most probably due to a series of stability issues it has on Honeycomb tablets.
