The owners of a Palm webOS smartphone have now a new version of the Facebook client for their devices available for download from the App Catalog. The Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker promised a new flavor of the application a few days ago, and it seems that users can already try it out and enjoy the newly added functionalities.

“f8, the Facebook developer conference, kicks off tomorrow to share platform news with the world. What better time than to share a new Facebook client for webOS users. Some of you have hopefully been following the features in our beta channel, and now we have a new release for the official App Catalog distribution channel,” a recent post on the Palm Developer Center notes.

According to the developing team, the new software solution comes with support for webOS/Facebook notifications, this being the most interesting feature added since the 1.1 version of the app was launched. Among the other enhancements included in Facebook 1.2 we can count the ability to play Facebook videos, keyboard shortcuts, speed improvements, and others more.

It seems that the Facebook app development team managed to learn some additional details on the webOS platform through building this application, and they should share their findings with those who will come to the Palm Developer Day this Friday and Saturday. WebOS users interested in learning more on what the application has to offer should head over to the App Catalog to download it.

“The Facebook app team shares tips and tricks directly from the Facebook playbook that will help make your own webOS apps easier to create and maintain. Get the inside scoop on techniques they developed for debugging, data management, and common webOS tasks. Open source included. We look forward to share these lessons and common code to help you in your apps,” the aforementioned post continues.
