SFR and Palm, Inc. recently unveiled plans to launch the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus phones on the market in France on April 27. According to the duo, the two handsets powered by the Palm webOS platform will be put on sale at that date via the carrier's online store, and are expected to hit all SFR stores on May 11.

“We are excited to bring the Palm webOS experience to France for the first time so SFR customers can benefit from the unique ability to use natural gestures to switch easily between multiple open applications and always stay up to date,” said Jon Rubinstein, Palm chairman and chief executive officer. “With the choice of the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus phones, customers across France can stay connected so they never miss a thing.”

The Pre Plus is Palm's full-featured Palm webOS phone. It sports a sliding keyboard, a touchscreen display, 16GB of internal storage space for applications and media (only around 15GB of space is available for users), with GPS receiver, Wi-Fi connectivity and the Palm Touchstone Back Cover, which makes it compatible with the Touchstone Charging Dock (sold separately). Pixi Plus arrives in France as the thinnest phone Palm released to date. A touchscreen display and full keyboard, along with the color Palm Pixi Touchstone Back Covers and the Palm Pixi Artist Series Back Covers, are only some of the features the device includes.

Powered by Palm webOS, both handsets come with Palm Synergy, delivering customers’ information from various sources into a single, comprehensive view. Palm webOS applications, available for download from the App Catalog, can be integrated into the core webOS experience, delivering more to users. And there's also the Palm mobile hotspot, an app that turns each of the two handsets in a mobile Wi-Fi router to offer connectivity to additional devices that pack Wi-Fi connectivity.

Frank Esser, SFR chairman and chief executive officer, said, “SFR is extremely proud to be the first operator to launch Palm webOS smartphones in France. This alliance comes within the scope of our strategy to provide the best user experience for mobile Internet and the widest range of smartphones to our customers.” Additional info on Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus can be found on Palm's website.
