FIFA 10 from EA Sports has managed to hold on to the top position in the United Kingdom sales chart for the second week running, becoming one of the first games in the last months to do so.

The football simulation title created by EA Canada has impressed players with the new 360 dribbling mode, which allows for more precise control of the ball, and is likely also attracting a crowd by offering the fresh Live Season concept, designed to offer gamers regular updates related to the players they can control in FIFA 10.

Second place in the chart went to a new entry, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, the military simulator created in house by Codemasters. The game, which puts the player in the military boots of an American soldier fighting the Chinese on a Russian island, delivers a complex experience that bends towards realism but can be customized to allow for some errors. The third place is occupied by Need for Speed: Shift from Electronic Arts, which has managed to actually gain a position from last week.

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box from Nintendo has slipped down two places to number four, while another Nintendo game, this time for the Wii, is staying put in fifth place. Halo 3: ODST, the Bungie created stand alone game focused on the experiences of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, seems to have lost its appeal, going down from number three to six. Seventh place is held by Gran Turismo for the PlayStation Portable from Sony, while eighth goes to a resurgent Wii Fit from Nintendo, which players are probably picking up in preparation for the release of its fitness-oriented sequel.

Mario Kart Wii is in holding patterns at number nine, with Guitar Hero 5 from Activision slipping to ten, while DiRT 2 and MySims Agents are out of the top ten.
