The LinkedIn profile for one developer working on the upcoming FIFA 12 proves that the football simulation will get a version for the upcoming PlayStation Portable 2 from Sony, which is at the moment officially known as the NGP.

Software engineer Juan José Galera Pérez is listed as currently working on FIFA 12 and the platforms listed are the “3DS, DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PS2, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP2”.

He has also been working on Shadows of the Damned and on the recently revealed Burnout Crash, suggesting that his role might be linked to the technical aspects of porting titles to more than one hardware platform.

When Sony officially unveiled the NGP and stated that it planned to launch it in late 2011 on major markets Electronic Arts has not said that it planned to create games for it.

The recent earthquake and tsunami combo that affected Japan has prompted one of the Sony leaders to say that the development and production of the NGP might be affected and that the launch date might not be met.

The new handheld is said to offer computing power that is similar to that of the PS3 home console, with the main limitation being the battery draw needed to deliver it, as well as an OLED display and a back of the device touch surface.

This would make it well suited for the demands of the FIFA series, which needs both good graphics power and well-suited controllers to deliver its brand of football simulation.

EA Sports has not yet offered a lot of detail on FIFA 12, which is expected to be one of the most important games it will launch this year, but a big reveal is expected next month.

The title's importance is magnified by the possible NFL lockout, which might end up affecting the release and the sales of Madden NFL 12.
