FIFA 12 has not received many details from the development team at EA Sports until now but one of the leading developers working on the football simulation title has said that it will be getting a completely new game engine, which is specifically designed to solve some of the issues the series has been having for the last few years.

Aaron McHardy, who is the lead gameplay designer working on FIFA 12 at EA Vancouver, has spoken about the new game engine to the Official Xbox Magazine, saying, “It’s the biggest change we’ve made since we rebuilt the engine for next-gen consoles. I mean we rebuilt the engine from scratch, so that’s as big as it can get, but since then we’re ripping out a big chunk of the game and it’s a massive change.”

He added, “It solves a lot of problems for us this year, it gives us better accuracy, better momentum, more realistic outcomes, solving a lot of situations that we just tried not to get into before.”

The developer also says that creating a new engine will have wide ranging effects, some of which might only be seen in 2012 or even later.

The developers at EA Sports have said that they are aiming to inject more realism into the football simulation series, making it easier for players to get into the games while also including an extra layer of depth of the people who have been playing the series for some time.

Video game publisher Electronic Arts has not yet officially announced FIFA 12 and has not mentioned when it is launched or what platforms it might appear on.

The history of the franchise suggests that it will be released at some point during September and that EA will target home consoles, the PC but also the new Nintendo 3DS handheld and the PlayStation Portable 2 from Sony.
