To give gamers a sense of fear

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, as the publisher, and Monolith Games, as the developers, are announcing that a demo version of their upcoming first person shooter F.E.A.R. 2 will be released on January 22 on all the platforms on which the game will be launched, meaning the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

If you want to play the demo, you need to download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace, the PlayStation Network or you can get it from www.whatisfear.com. The full game will be released in stores on February 13, which means that players will have more than two weeks to see what it is all about and make a decision regarding buying it.

The demo for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is going to offer players a small taste of what the game packs in by taking them on a tour of several locations within the city of Auburn (the one which you could witness blowing up at the end of the original game in the series).

As the press release says, “bloodstained corridors and hallways” will again be the main location that players will explore. It's not clear whether the demo will show off the mech like exoscheleton that has already been featured in some videos taken from the game. The developers will probably be interested in keeping that experience wrapped up until players get their hands on the full game.

F.E.A.R. 2 is a sequel to the original game, which was launched in 2005, and picks up immediately after its end, ignoring the two expansions not created by Monolith Games. As part of a Special Forces team, the player will need to navigate the destroyed city, battling super natural threats and finding out why Alma is so furious and what it will take to stop her.
