UFO: Extraterrestrials delayed

Looks like extraterrestrial creatures won't come to Earth this year, as decided by Tri Synergy and Chaos Concepts. No more crop circles this year, no more close encounters, no more nothing!

The release of UFO: Extraterrestrials has been pushed until February 2007 in order to allow developers to implement better play balance and some new game enhancements. I guess that this is a fancy way of saying that they have been loafing around.

The game takes place in the year 2025, when a newly colonized planet, Esperanza, encounters alien life, better yet alien invasion. These aliens attack the inhabitants of that planet, and a special fighting force is assigned by the managing council to get the planet rid of the pesky invaders. The planets' inhabitants discover that the aliens took over the Esperanza Security Center.

UFO Extraterrestrial will feature a grand strategy map, where players can build bases, develop new weapons for fighting the alien invaders. The game is said to be an unofficial sequel to X-COM: UFO Defense, which was the best selling game of 1995. Presumably, UFO: Extraterrestrial will pick up where XCOM: UFO Defense left off, meaning the planet Esperanza, which was colonized by spaceship Magalenash in 2020.
