Evernote, the popular note-taking application from the company with the same name, has reached version 4.1.0 on iOS and version 3.0 on Mac OS X, with several key improvements for each platform.

For iOS customers, Evernote 4.1.0 brings new abilities like: add rich text styles, lists and links to notes (iOS 4.2 and above); edit existing notes containing simple styles (iOS 4.2 and above); access Shared Notebooks; tap an image in a note to launch a slideshow.

Premium users can now lock Evernote with a passcode and every user (including those with a free account) can now search within individual notes.

The iPad version has a redesigned look and feel, and also adds the ability to pinch and zoom into the note list, as well as support for multi-selection of notes for easy sharing and deletion.

On the iPhone, there’s redesigned New Note and Edit Note screens to be found. Numerous other interface improvements and bug fixes have been applied for all device models.

On the desktop side, Evernote 3.0 for Mac OS X is dubbed “The Lion-ification of Evernote.”

Everyone gets the update, including Leopard and Snow Leopard users, but none of the visual or functional updates highlighted by the Evernote team in their latest blog post.

Evernote for Mac also boasts a whole new look, with a more polished appearance, Full Screen mode support (which takes the app to a whole new level), the ability to hide the left panel, a new Favorites bar with a bunch of new options, and more.

“We’re very excited about what Lion has to offer. If you want to get all of the latest and greatest features that Evernote has to offer, we highly recommend updating to the latest Mac operating system. We have lots of new stuff planned. Stay tuned,” says the Evernote team.
