Evernote, the popular note-taking application for Mac OS X, Windows, iOS and many other platforms, has received a maintenance update which brings the current version 2.2.2 on the desktop front.

Evernote allows users to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform they find most convenient.

Everything stays in sync across the user’s devices. Any saved note, whether it’s made up of text, imagery, or audio, is easily searchable by tags, text recognition and other methods.

“Evernote works by connecting all the computers and phones you use daily, allowing you to capture something in one place and then access it from another,” the developer with the same name explains.

Addressing Mac users in particular, Evernote Corp. adds, “Capture all of your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations, into a single place. Access everything whenever you need it from your Mac, even when offline.”

Evernote for Mac is now at version 2.2.2. Released today, this fresh build brings Note Links, a feature that enables you to create links to individual notes that can be pasted within Evernote notes and into other applications.

A new 'Snippet View' (replacing 'Mixed View') provides more relevant note information at a glance, and the New Back/Forward controls allow users to navigate through recently viewed notes.

Note operations are now consolidated into new 'Note' menu and VoiceOver accessibility features have been improved on the Mac.

Users can now copy notes within a notebook and between notebooks as well as to and from Shared notebooks.

A bunch of bug fixes and other minor enhancements round up this release, according to the changelog.

Evernote is a Universal Binary, meaning it works on both Intel and PowerPC Mac computers. The newer versions require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

An account with Evernote is also required to use the service. There are both free and paid plans.
