Fans of the ingenious Evernote app for Mac OS X have a new update to download and install. The update prevents software from acting up in certain circumstances, but features different fixes for the separate versions of Evernote that are available to Mac users.

Described as a secondary ‘brain’ by its makers, Evernote is one of the best (if not the best) note taking applications, with support for a wide range of devices and the ability to make a note out of pretty much any type of media.

Whether it’s a photograph, a video or an audio note, a simple text file, or a web page, Evernote makes everything immediately available through its search algorithms and text-recognition technology.

Users simply add their stuff to Evernote for later access anywhere in the world, and on almost any type of device.

The latest version that all Mac users can employ (including those running OS X Tiger, and Leopard) features improved formatting when pasting note content into applications that use RTF or RTFD.

Version 2.1.1 also fixes a bug where 'Searching PDF...' would pop-up unexpectedly, a bug that would cause a PDF to incorrectly display as an attachment when first added to Evernote, and an error where a note sync conflict in a shared notebook would cause sync to fail.

But there’s an exclusive version of Evernote for Mac App Store users running OS X Snow Leopard.

According to the release notes on Apple’s digital storefront for Macintosh applications, Evernote 2.1.1 fixes a bug causing newly down-synced notes to get incorrect modification dates, a bug that caused an internal database error on down-sync, and an issue that caused a sync failure when adding images to a note.
