Developed by the company with the same name, Evernote is a cross-platform service available in both free and paid form. With the recently updated desktop app, users can tag new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable. Evernote's flagship feature is its ability to read text inside images. Evernote can even read handwritten notes.

The latest version of the app (Evernote 1.4.8 Build 55604) allows for pasted plain text to match current typing styles, while properly preserving spacing; undo continues to function after a note is saved; hitting enter on a double-spaced line converts it to a single-spaced line; plain text copies of a note now preserve lists and to-do checkboxes; pasting HTML from a web browser no longer strips newlines from text inside blocks; copying and pasting a list item within a note preserves list indenting, while pasted rich-text font sizes are preserved when saving and syncing.

Evernote Corp. also enabled the desktop client of Evernote to preserve line endings when cutting and pasting a line of text within a note, while pasting multi-line text from an HTML in Safari preserves newlines. Lastly, the update should improve handling of newlines when pasting rich-text. Only one bug has been fixed in this release, which is always a good sign.

Main features of Evernote include the ability to create notes containing text and audio, find printed and handwritten text within images, clip web content directly into the program, capture screenshots, and ultimately synchronize your notes among all the desktop and mobile versions you use.

The iPhone client is now OS 3.0-tested and brings significantly faster app launch times for capturing new notes, fixes for networking and synchronization issues for certain carriers, as well as general bug fixes and improvements, thanks to a recent update.
