Evernote is a cross-platform application that allows users to capture stuff like webpages, whiteboards, scribbles, to-dos, photos and even music files, keeping them in a safe place for easy access, across a variety of devices.

Developed by the company with the same name, Evernote is a service available in both free and paid form. Using the desktop app, you can tag your new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable. Evernote's flagship feature is its ability to read text inside images, a feature called "text-recognition." It can even read handwritten notes, so, basically, all you have to do is just search for an item inside Evernote just like you remember it. The service is available for Mac, Windows PC and several mobile platforms.

In Evernote 1.4.7, the developers have fixed several memory leaks, as well as a bug when migrating large databases that caused Evernote to consume copious amounts of RAM and then crash. A bug when searching very large notes that caused Evernote to crash has also been squashed. Additionally, Snow Leopard users can now sync with the server.

The main features of Evernote include the ability to create notes containing text and audio, find printed and handwritten text within images, clip web content directly into the program, capture screenshots, and ultimately synchronize your notes among all the desktop and mobile versions you use.

An iPhone client is also available. Version 3.0.2 is 3.0-tested and brings significantly faster app launch times for capturing new notes, fixes for networking and synchronization issues for certain carriers, as well as general bug fixes and improvements. Other new features (previous update) include new additions such as Landscaping, Thumbnail view, the ability to sort favorite notes and an embedded browser. Using the links below, you can download both the desktop and the mobile client of the application for free.
