PlayStation 3 owners in Europe who subscribe to the brand-new PlayStation Plus service will have access free of charge to Little Big Planet. Furthermore, the game will remain in their possession even if they cancel their subscription, according to Sony Europe's PlayStation Blog. This offer is available only for customers in the PAL region that sign up for the premium 12-month subscription of the service between the 29th of June, when the PlayStation Plus launches, and the 3rd of August.

PlayStation Plus is a premium subscription service that PlayStation 3 owners who have a PSN account can choose to pay for. Members can expect four games a month for free, that is one PSN title, two PlayStation Mini ones, and one PS One Classics game. They will be available for one month, getting replaced when the new offer comes in. They will not be lost, however, if the PS 3 owner decides to have a break from PS Plus, as they will become available again when the user re-subscribes.

Each month, PS Plus customers will also be able to download two full games and try them for one hour or more. After that period, the subscribers will be asked whether they want to buy the titles and continue playing or delete them from their hard drive. Another new feature is called Automatic Download. PS Plus Members will be able to set up their PlayStation 3 to wake up from standby at any hour and download any title updates or demos, so that they can easily just play when they turn on their console.

The blog post also details what are the free games that will be available for download in the first two months for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The first month, going on from the 29th of June to the 3rd of August, will net customers, besides Little Big Planet, Wipeout HD, Field Runners, Age of Zombies and Destruction Derby. The Steel and Titanium DLC for Killzone 2 will also be free of charge for owners of the title.

The second month, which goes from the 4th of August to the 1st of September, will bring Zen Pinball, Blast-Off, Alien Zombie Death, Medievil and the Adrenaline Pack DLC for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift for free.
