The Nation Designer is the most interesting addition

El Dorado is an interesting expansion for Europa Universalis IV because it focuses on an area of the world that most strategy titles tend to ignore, and the team at Paradox Development Studios is offering more details about the new content in a new video diary.

Martin Anward, aka Wiz, the leader of the team that worked on the new ideas, has spent seven minutes to explain the way South and Central America are changed for those who want to play as the Inca or the Aztecs and how European powers will also have to change their approach to exploration and colonial wars.

The game maker also explains how the Nation Designer included in El Dorado for Europa Universalis IV will open up the game in interesting ways even for those who have already played the most attraction countries on the map.

The new system allows gamers to create entirely new political entities, define their borders and their government and then choose the ideas that will help them expand as the game progresses.

The Nation Design might be the most important new element to be added to the grand strategy title since it was first launched because fans can now create a wide variety of fantasy states and explore how they might influence history, with 32 of them potentially included in each campaign.

El Dorado gives gamers a chance to discover the Seven Cities of Gold

Both the Seven Cities of Gold and the Fountain of Youth are fictions, but to European who were just exploring South and Central America they were worthy objectives.

Gamers will be able to use conquistadors and armies to enter the jungle and try to find them, and new event chains introduced in El Dorado might lead to disastrous or to great results.

A new set of mechanics also translate into the fact that colonial nations need to send gold and silver they extracted using fleets to their mother countries, which means that fleets are required to make sure that trade routes are protected from pirates and privateers that seek to get the bounty.

The core game is also getting a range of changes in a free associated patch.

Europa Universalis IV - El Dorado is set to arrive on February 26, 2015, and will only be offered digitally.
