Eurocom, a company well known for its high-performance notebook solutions, has just announced that its flagship mobile workstation, the Panther 3.0, can now be configured to deliver up to 4TB of storage space.

This capability is possible due to the Western Digital WD Scorpio Blue 9.5 mm, 2.5-inch mobile HDD with 1TB capacity and Panther's 3.0 ability to accommodate a total of four storage drives.

Besides the new storage options, the configuration options of the Panther 3.0 were left unaltered by Eurocom, so consumers have the option of choosing between a wide variety of LGA 1366 processors.

This list also includes chips such as the Core i7-990X Extreme and the Xeon X5690, Intel's most powerful CPUs released to date.

Both of these CPUs are based on the Westmere-EP architecture and pack six processing cores with Hyper-Threading support, 12MB of level 3 cache memory and have a TDP of 130W.

The integrated memory controller found inside the Intel chips can access up to three memory channels, which can be packed with as much as 24GB of RAM.

Together with these powerful processors and the 24GB of memory, Eurocom also allows its customers to choose from a wide selection of discrete graphics cards, which includes solutions built by both AMD and Nvidia.

Furthermore, the workstation can even accommodate two graphics cards, linked together through SLI or CrossFireX, and users can also select from the GPU list between three Nvidia Quadro professional solutions.

The screen used for the Panther measures 17.3-inch in diagonal, has a glossy finish and supports a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

“For users looking for the utmost in mobile storage capacity, a Eurocom Panther 3.0 Mobile Server supporting four physical hard drives, for 4TB in RAID 0/1/5/10 is currently the best option” said Mark Bialic, Eurocom president.

The first 1TB WD Scorpio Blue hard drive is sold by Eurocom as a $140 upgrade, while each additional HDD is priced at $295. For comparison, the MSRP of the Western Digital is set at $139.99.
