Given the fact that budgets dedicated to education are slowly, but surely decreasing pretty much everywhere around the world, Epson's decided to lend a helping hand to this segment and introduced the PowerLite X9, that delivers quite an OK set of features without going overboard in terms of pricing.

The device features the latest, 3LCD, 3-chip technology, as well as Epson's own E-TORL lamp technology, that helps it deliver 2,500 lumens color and white light output, as well as XGA resolution, that should prove to be enough for most classrooms out there.

The PowerLite X9 delivers several convenient features including USB Plug 'n Play Instant Setup, that lets users project images directly from a computer via USB, as well as an audio port for connecting to a sound system and a monitor output.

Moreover, the projector offers Closed Captioning features, that make presentations accessible to viewers with hearing impairments with no added cost.

The PowerLite X9 offers 1.2x optical zoom and +/-30 degree automatic vertical keystone correction, enabling easy and convenient setup in multiple classroom settings, as well as Direct Power On and Off, Instant On/Off and A/V Mute Slide that allow for easier and faster control of the device during presentations.

"While education budgets continue to shrink, we recognize there is still a need for advanced and reliable technology in the classroom," said Sara Kim, product manager, Epson America, Inc, adding that "the PowerLite X9 provides classrooms with brightness, sharp image quality and convenient connectivity that won't break the bank."

And we'll have to admit that the statement provided by Epson's rep is actually quite true, given the fact that the device will sell for somewhere in the vicinity of 600 US dollars when it becomes available in April 2011, which is quite OK, especially taking into account the specific needs and characteristics of the targeted market segment.
