Coming on April 13

Gamers interested in picking up the Episodes from Liberty City content for Gran Theft Auto IV for the PlayStation 3 or for the PC are out of luck, as developer Rockstar has announced having delayed the launch for April 13. The initial date was March 30 and it seems that the pushback has something to do with a request coming from Sony Europe, although its nature is not clear at the moment.

Episodes from Liberty City brings together two hefty chunks of content for GTA IV that, for now, can only be bought on a disk by those who own the videogame for the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft.

The Lost & Damned focuses on the underworld of Liberty City, telling the story of one motorcycle gang and its struggle for leadership, while The Ballad of Gay Tony is more glamorous and focuses on upscale destruction derbies featuring attack helicopters.

When the two packs finally come out, players will be able to get them on a disk and also download them from the PlayStation Network and through the Games for Windows service. Gamers can expect the two packs to be priced as they are now for the Xbox 360.

A web statement from Rockstar reads, “Due to a last minute game submission request from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to edit some of the in-game Liberty City radio station, television, and internet content, we are forced to delay the worldwide release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for both PlayStation 3 and PC for an extra two weeks.”

The developer is also saying that it expects the impact of the April 13 launch to be big enough that it needs to prepare its social infrastructure. The Rockstar Social Club space will be closed down for one week starting with March 22.
