Prepaid carrier TracFone is about to add the LG Optimus Zip Android phone to its portfolio. LG and TracFone have a long-time partnership together, so it’s no surprise the latter is going to launch another entry-level device.

Although it will be released as LG Optimus Zip at TracFone, this is in fact the old LG Enlighten, which is still up for grabs in the US through Verizon Wireless. The smartphone was also launched at Virgin Mobile USA back in October, as LG Optimus Slider.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any details yet on the Optimus Zip’s pricing options and availability, but we can safely assume this won’t be priced higher than $150 USD (120 EUR) outright.

The phone’s main strong point is the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, allowing for faster and more accurate texting. In addition, the Optimus Zip is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

LG Optimus Zip would be an excellent choice for customers who wish to purchase their first Android handset, but do not want to break the bank.

Those who don’t like to use the physical keyboard to write their messages can take advantage of the virtual keyboard included along with the 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 262k colors.

Hardware-wise, LG Optimus Zip is equipped with an 800 MHz single-core Qualcomm MSM7627T processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs 150MB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). Although LG states that the Optimus Zip is shipped with a free 2GB microSD memory card in the sales package, TracFone has yet to confirm it.

Last but not least, the Optimuz Zip’s 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 810 hours of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time.
