“Even if you eat meat, it’s gross,” Ellen DeGeneres says of Gaga’s meat dress at the VMAs
“Even if you eat meat, it’s gross,” Ellen DeGeneres says of Gaga’s meat dress at the VMAs

Over the weekend, at the Video Music Awards 2010, Lady Gaga wore a dress made of raw meat. Hours after the show, she taped an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres in the same outfit – and Ellen says the experience was quite “gross.”

As we also informed you the other day, Gaga taped her appearance on the show shortly after her wins at the VMAs – and she was still wearing the controversial dress.

This inevitably forced Ellen to say she couldn’t understand why the singer would choose to wear something like this, prompting her to explain it to her.

Speaking with Ryan Seacrest the other day (as the video embedded below will show), Ellen revealed that, though the interview seemed a piece of cake to take, it was quite an ordeal to pull off.

It’s not because she’s a vegetarian that she had such a hard time sitting down with Gaga for the talk, but rather the idea that the woman in front of her was decked in “gross” slices of carcass.

The fact that they were doing a daytime show that didn’t even aim at being controversial was yet another issue that troubled Ellen.

On the other hand, she really loved Gaga and her music, and consequently wanted to offer her the venue to talk about her choice.

“I was like, ‘Can she please change because this is going to be very awkward and this is a daytime show.’ It’s not the VMAs,” Ellen tells Seacrest.

“She’s gonna show up doing this and then it’s gonna air tomorrow during daytime and then she’s sitting, ya know, on my show in a meat dress and it’s gonna be weird for her,” the television personality adds.

The awkwardness of the moment didn’t even have to do with Ellen being a vegan – the whole idea was sick and completely inappropriate for television.

“Whether you’re vegan or not, it’s just weird to be sitting next to somebody wearing slabs of meat on their head and their body. It’s gross, you know. Even if you eat meat, it’s gross,” Ellen says.

With all this, she tried to play it cool and even went ahead as planned with the joke about the kale two-piece swimsuit and skirt – but it was hard for her nonetheless.

Below is Ellen DeGeneres telling Ryan Seacrest just how upset she got when she saw Lady Gaga wearing the controversial VMA meat dress on her show.
