A 10-dollar discount for a lot of games

2008 was one of the most successful years for gaming as we've seen quite a lot of stunning triple A quality titles launched by various publishers and developers. But although there were quite a lot of new IPs making their appearance, with a big part of them coming from Electronic Arts, a publisher infamous for its milking of franchises, a lot of gamers went for sequels to satisfy their gaming needs.

As a consequence, players largely omitted new and promising titles like Mirror's Edge or Dead Space, despite their positive review scores. However, now it seems that EA has seen the error of its ways, as it launched the titles in a very busy time frame, and will not do so with new IPs.

Yet, that still doesn't change the fact that a big number of titles weren't sold, so EA has employed a pretty big cut on the prices of a lot of games that were launched last year, like Dead Space, Madden 2009, Mirror's Edge or Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. The cuts can now be seen across a lot of retailers, including Amazon or GameStop, so people who haven’t purchased these titles so far can really score a great deal. Here are the major price changes, as reported by Kotaku:

- Dead Space was 60 dollars, now it's 50 dollars - Red Alert 3 was 40 dollars, now it's 30 dollars - Army of Two was 30 dollars, now it's 20 dollars - Mirror's Edge was 50 dollars, now it's 40 dollars - Madden 09 was 60 dollars, now it's 50 dollars - NBA Live 09 was 50 dollars, now it's 40 dollars - FIFA 09 was 60 dollars, now it's 50 dollars

Although it isn't quite a big price cut, 10 dollars are certain to make a difference considering the tough economic climate and how the entertainment budget for a lot of games has decreased. Hopefully, this will mean some bigger sales for the company so that it can invest the money in the development of new titles.
