The so-called tablet that ASUS plans to bring to market is quite a unique piece and it seems that the web has finally witnessed the arrival of a video in which the device is taken out of its box and put through its paces.

For months it was known that ASUS was working on the so-called Eee Tablet, a slate type device unusual among its peers.

Later, the name of that product was changed into Eee Note EA800, possible because the 'tablet' in the name made it easy to mistake it for a media slate.

Basically, the device is more of a note taking electronic than a competitor for the likes of Notion Ink's Adam, the Advent Vega or the Apple iPad.

More recently, a video unboxing of the product was made, which also takes the time to experiment with the various things it can do. Apparently, EA800 left quite a positive impression.

For those that want an update on the hardware, the product is an 8-inch slate that uses a monochrome liquid crystal display (LCD) instead of a color screen.

The product still has the obligatory touch input, however, with stylus support, both needed for the actual note taking process that the Eee Note EA800 is primarily built for.

256 levels of pressure can be detected, while the display can render 64 different shades of grey (the resolution is 768 x 1,024 pixels).

Additionally, ASUS threw in 4 GB of internal flash storage, along with a microSD card slot that lets one add a significant number of extra gigabytes to the mix.

Other specifications include 802.11b/g wireless connectivity, a 2 mp webcam, a 1 W speaker, a 3.5 mm earphone jack, a 3,700 mAh battery and a frame measuring 139 x 222.4 x 11 mm and weighing 520 grams.

All these components are managed by a Marvell central processing unit and the official launch should happen in Q1, 2011. Meanwhile, the manual of the electronic can be found here.
