Just a year ago USB 3.0 products were really scarce, but today the tides have turned completely and every other day there is another SuperSpeed USB peripheral that tries to come into the spotlight, Edge Tech being the latest company to announce its solutions that range from PC and notebooks adapter to USB 3.0 external storage drives.

Coming in PCI Express as well as ExpressCard flavors, these new adapters are designed in order to offer desktop and notebook users a quick way of upgrading to the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard, although the laptop card adds only one such port while the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Desktop PCI Express Card adds two ports to any Windows desktop with an available PCI Express slot.

“There are many consumers out there that want to take advantage of USB 3.0 speeds, but have older systems,” says Edge Tech Product Development Manager, Brandon Coles.

“These upgrade cards are a low cost alternative to buying a new USB 3.0 computer, with the same results.”

Moving over, we get to Edge's external storage solutions that come in two versions, the portable DiskGO SuperSpeed USB 3.0 hard drive featuring a compact size and up to 750GB in storage capacity while its bigger brother (designed to be used as a external storage solution for home users) is available in capacities ranging from 500GB to 2TB.

The Dmailer Backup software is included in all these solutions, allowing users to create automatic local and online data backups without a hassle.

“With the incredible amount of movies and other digital media that consumers store on their computers today, USB 3.0 storage is a welcome solution,” added the company's rep.

Price wise, these new external storage solutions start at $84.95 and go up to $199.95, depending on their storage capacity, the ExpressCard and PCI ExpressUSB 3.0 adapters coming in at $29.95, quite a decent deal if you ask me.
