The ever expanding flash drive market has just gotten a bit larger, now that a certain US-based hardware maker decided to show off its skills. EDGE Tech brought out its latest pair of drives from the DiskGO series, and it seems to have made a point of reaching as small a size as possible. The two go by the names of DiskGO Mini and DiskGO Backup and are just about the size of a key ring, making them more than suited for on-the-go storage.

The members of the duo are both based on MLC (multi-level Cell) NAND Flash memory chips and have a capacity of 32 GB each. For the most part, their specifications are quite similar. Firstly, they are designed compatible with the USB 2.0 connection and, thus, will be able to communicate with practically any personal computer (PC) and, of course, a wide range of consumer electronics.

Granted, the transfer rates won't be on par with those of USB 3.0-enabled devices, but the newcomers still manage to pull off a decent 15 MB/s when reading and 8 MB/s when writing. What acts as the distinguishing quality is the pre-loaded software that EDGE Tech decided to add to the equation. The DiskGO backup includes the Dmailer Backup application, which makes it easy for end-users to backup their system. As for the DiskGO Mini, it features the CryptArchiver Lite program, which provides 128-bit AES encryption.

EDGE Tech's new inventions are meant to operate at temperatures of 32°F – 158°F and can be safely stored at -40°F – 176°F. They only need 4.5V – 5.5V in order to run and are compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7, as well as Mac OS X and higher. The 32GB DiskGO Mini is priced at $89.95, whereas the DiskGO Backup sells for $94.95.
