Mobile phone carrier Sprint was the first one to make available for purchase on its airwaves a smartphone that packs support for WiMAX connectivity, namely the HTC EVO 4G. Running under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, the mobile phone already enjoys high demand among Spritn's users, especially due to the high-end applications and capabilities it has been put on shelves with. Moreover, it seems that Sprint also aims at enhancing the experience users receive from the phone, and has started pushing out a software update for it.

The software solution has been released for HTC EVO 4g device out there several days ago, yet Sprint stopped its deployment soon after, due to the fact that it bricked some devices. The new firmware reportedly packs a nice range of enhancements, even if no new Android version was included in the package. However, the solution was said to bring Wi-Fi performance improvements, fixes for the integrated Facebook Sync feature so as to boost the life of handset's battery, not to mention some tweaks brought to the Exchange Active Sync client.

The main issue with the update was that users were prompted to install it even after the installation process was completed. As soon as one would start the installation process again, the handset would become unresponsive. However, it seems that HTC and Sprint managed to solve the issues residing within the update, and that users can download and install it knowing that it won't cause anymore problems. Navigating to Settings > System updates > HTC software update would offer users the possibility to install the solution. According to pocketnow, the new solution is meant for those who were not able to install the first update.

In the mean time, we should note that those interested in the handset can now head over to Sprint's online store to purchase it. It might have been out of stock for a short period of time, but it seems that it's back on shelves, and that the $199 price tag upon the signing of 2 year contract agreement with the wireless carrier is still there. The phone can be purchased from Sprint here.
