One has the reference cooler, the other uses the ACX dual-fan model

Since AMD's OEMs have started to launch 8 GB graphics cards (like Sapphire Radeon R9 290X TOXIC), NVIDIA's own partners are now unveiling video cards with twice the normal amount of VRAM. EVGA has started with the GeForce GTX 780.

Normally, the GeForce GTX 780 has 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, clocked at 6 GHz, while the GPU operates at 863 MHz / 900 MHz Boost.

EVGA has released the GeForce GTX 780 6GB cards, which are just like the originals only with twice the amount of video random access memory.

The company hasn't provided the clocks, though we're pretty sure the memory, at least, sticks to the same 6 GHz.

Perhaps the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6GB that has the reference cooler will stick to stock clocks, while the GeForce GTX 780 6GB ACX (dual-fan cooling) will be factory overclocked. Or maybe they both have factory OC, or they stick to reference specifications.

EVGA hasn't said when it will divulge the rest of the information, but it has said that an update (and the launch for that matter) will happen soon.

In case you are wondering why EVGA isn't opening with a GeForce GTX 780 Ti 6GB, it's because NVIDIA already has the GTX Titan Black, which is precisely that: a GTX 780 Ti with 6 GB (well, 6,144 MB at 7 GHz).

That said, you don't necessarily have to buy EVGA's new cards. You can also get them if you bought an EVGA graphics card at some point in the past three months.

To elaborate, if you bought an EVGA board during the last 90 days, you can hand it back and upgrade to the new one, just paying the price difference. That's why EVGA has set up the microsite for the boards (which we have linked to above), for those who want to be notified when the two newcomers are finally available.

For those interested in further details, we can tell you that the ACX cooling has double ball bearing fans that can drive memory and GPU temperatures 15% lower than the stock one.

Finally, the starting price of the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6GB will be of $549.99, which means €398.60, according to exchange rates.

Sadly, odds are higher that the EU tags will be of €549.99 and up instead, since exchange rates never do seem to be reflected in reality, at least not for IT companies headquartered in the US or the (Middle) East. Such are the wonders of VAT and shipping taxes.
