Will start selling in June

Among the many LCDs that have been launched over the past few months, there have been a few whose design and array of features set them apart from the others. One of these products was unveiled back in January and started shipping in March. Developed by EIZO, said professional monitor turned heads through its large screen size and its impressive native resolution. Unfortunately, the LCD hasn't exactly been widely available, being confined to Japan until now, but this should change starting next month.

A report has recently surfaced, stating that the ColorEdge CG303W, a display intended for professional use, will reach European stores and retailers sometime next month. This monitor is special because it makes use of an H-IPS panel, it has a screen size of 30 inches and a native resolution of 2560 x 1600.

Not all specifications of the display are best-in-class, of course. When implementing such a high resolution and size, certain aspects end up less formidable than they would be otherwise.

For instance, the response time of the CG303W is of 12ms. Compared with most consumer screens, this may seem long, but, for professional use, response time is not nearly as relevant as it is, for instance, during gaming. The other aspect that is not of the highest tier is brightness (260 cd/m2), again, not as relevant as it would be for consumers.

Now come the areas where EIZO's creation excels. Though the static contrast ratio is of only 850:1, the screen itself can cover no less than 98% of the Adobe RGB color gamut. There is also a digital uniformity equalizer (DUE), which makes sure that chroma and brightness are relatively even across the viewing area. As for connectivity, the CG303W can receive input from a host PC via dual DVI ports. EIZO also provided a pair of USB ports.
