Today's market has many high-end graphics cards capable of video output at very high resolutions. However, even while this is impressive, regular 17-inch or 19-inch monitors don't exactly have any need to use such high resolutions. Still, such graphics cards can still see themselves fully taken advantage of when end-users possess a monitor with a somewhat larger form factor, as is the latest in the ColorEdge line from EIZO. EIZO Japan has announced a new, 30-inch LCD monitor for the Japanese market.

The ColorEdge CG303W professional-grade liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor is built with an IPS panel and has a very high color accuracy, being capable of reproducing 98% of the Adobe RGB color gamut. Its maximum resolution is of 2560 x 1600 and its black-white-black response time is of 12ms.

The panel even has a brightness of 260cd/m2 and a static contrast ratio of 850:1. An interesting fact is that the actual gamma adjustments are set by individual workers at the factory just before the monitors are shipped out, and end-users can even calibrate them themselves if they wish thanks to the included ColorNavigator software.

The display can connect to computing systems through two DVI-D ports, one of which is HDCP compliant. The product also boasts a pair of universal serial bus (USB) ports and its viewing angle, both horizontal and vertical, is of no less than 178 degrees. Not only that, but the display even meets various ergonomic and safety standards, such as EPEAT Silver, PC Green Label (fiscal 2009 version), Energy Star and RoHS, among others.

EIZO has made its new, 30-inch LCD monitor available in Japan at a price equivalent to $4,400. Unfortunately, the company has not expressed any plans to make the ColorEdge CG303W available in other countries, but this does not exclude the possibility of the LCD eventually crossing the border.
