Electronic Arts want a piece of the pie, too

It doesn't matter if the recently released Wii Fit tells your kids they are fat or if it really is a good way to lose weight - Nintendo's latest hit sells like crazy and it only seems natural that other people want a piece of the pie, too. But since nobody had the guts until now, Electronic Arts jumped up and around and said that they're going to develop a Wii Fit-like title that would be, of course, more fun and much better.

As expected, the recently announced Freestyle label will develop the game that will focus, according to Peter Moore, quoted by Eurogamer, on "western" workouts (meaning that you'll start sweating a little bit), unlike the Wii Fit which focuses on "eastern" workouts. And it seems natural for them to develop a game that's at least a little bit different - no matter how much you like a game and its success, you can't just copy it, right?

"We're watching very closely what the Wii Fit board does," Moore said. "We think we have to have a role to play with that mum - the kids have gone to school, she's got 45 minutes on her own, the Wii is there, it's the first console she's ever liked because she can do things herself. And we're working on stuff, trying to work out how we can use EA Sports applications there."

And they have found a way, it seems - they're going to mix fun and fitness together, bringing to life a whole new experience since, according to Moore, if "you run for five miles playing soccer [...] you've had a good time". Of course EA is not going to bring soccer to the Nintendo Wii for the moms to play - they are planning on implementing lots of minigames to keep everybody busy while running or doing whatever their Wii fitness game wants you to do. But until this project becomes a reality, we're going to enjoy Facebreaker first and it already seems to be more exciting than any Wii fitness game.
