Steven Spielberg's collaboration with Electronic Arts has finally become a dream come true, since the publishers announced that Boom Blox has been loaded into trucks and is now heading towards game stores all over the world. Still, it will be a longer trip than many of us would expect, since the game will only be (officially) released on the 8th of May in Europe, the 13th of May in Asia and 22nd of May in Japan. North America is, as always, the luckiest, since the game is already available for purchase there.

The game, developed especially for kids aged 8-12, but at the same time a fun experience for grown-ups, is a Nintendo Wii exclusive and it definitely has Steven Spielberg's signature on... even though many were expecting a rather mature, action packed game from the esteemed film director. Still, it is a high-energy game where players will have to make their way out of over four hundred levels of strategic destruction. The best thing for kids is the fact that, unlike real life, no clean-up after the mess is done will be required, and this definitely makes the game even more fun. We'll also get the chance to test our skills in co-op mode or multiplayer versus mode.

"BOOM BLOX was designed to be interactive, pure escapism, and fun for kids of all ages," said Steven Spielberg. "My hope is that it will be a great shared family experience." Louis Castle, Executive Producer, explained, "As we developed BOOM BLOX, we realized that the possibilities with the puzzles were endless. We wanted to extend that element of wonder and discovery to players and even give them the chance to share those puzzles with their friends. We feel we've reached a new level of creative and immersive game play with the uniqueness of the Wii system and are looking forward to seeing what kids create."

This means that Boom Blox also comes with an easy to use level editor that allows creating new levels or editing the existing ones in order to bring to life new ways of destroying everything around. Plus, their designs can then be shared with friends or used to challenge others to solve their newly created puzzle via WiiConnect24. So just take a break from GTA IV and let your kids have their own fun. Who knows, maybe you'll get to like it, too and become addicted!
