Sports games are very popular because people have always wanted to lead their favorite soccer, football, hockey or any other sports team to victory and to win numerous championships and awards. That is why for Electronic Arts its Sports label is the most important.

But although the division of the company already has a boxing franchise, in the form of Fight Night, there have been a lot of rumors concerning the fact that EA Sports might be turning its head towards other full-contact sports, with Mixed Martial Arts being the most attractive at this moment. Present at a launch event, the president of EA Sports, Peter Moore, talked about this rumor, and, although he didn't confirm anything, he did say that boxing wasn't selling quite well lately.

“We keep a very close eye on where things like Mixed Martial Arts are going,” Moore said. “Obviously we've got Fight Night - we're incredibly excited about Fight Night - but boxing, for me, sadly feels like it's the past of fighting and Mixed Martial Arts feels like it's the future of fighting. So when we look at where people's attention is going, that's something we keep a very close eye on.”

Fight Night Round 4 is the latest installment in the boxing series from Electronic Arts and will be launched on June 30 this year. With a star-studded athlete roster consisting of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson or Joe Frazier, it is bound to attract quite a lot of fans to buy it.

But even if the future title will sell, it seems that other full-contact sports are beginning to look very alluring to EA Sports. Hopefully we will get to see some concrete projects in the near future, so prepare to get knocked around the ring in other titles except boxing and wrestling.
