Video game publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it is starting a new community-oriented program designed to find two “Need for Speed European Spokemodel” women that have passion about both video games and cars and will then promote the Need for Speed video games all over the continent.

The two chosen spokesmodels will be working throughout this year and 2012 and will take part in a number of events linked to upcoming Need for Speed video games, including The Run, but will also take part in all the activities of the Need for Speed racing team that is currently engaged in the FIA GT3 European Championship and Euro Drift series of races.

Models who are interested in the Need for Speed franchise and the world of racing games should come from one of six countries: France, Germany, Norway, Russia, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Each of the countries will hold its own initial competition and cash prizes will be awarded to the best spokemodels and the overall winners will be announced during the fall, when Need for Speed: The Run is set to be launched.

The new game in the series is being developed by franchise veterans Black Box and the developer has said that it plans to deliver an experience which mixes high stakes racing, with fast cars, complex circuits and tough opponents with an interesting story and a number of action-oriented sequences that take the main character outside his car.

The Run takes the player from the Golden Gate bridge to the Empire State in an epic race across America during which other racers are not the biggest threats and the police and mobsters are also part of the picture.

I saw Need for Speed: The Run at the E3 2011 trade show and the game was solid and exciting when it came to the racing bits but a bit disappointing when it came to the out-of-the-car sequences, which seem to be limited to Quick Time Events only.
