Espionage from GTA creators

Sony's press conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was a pretty big one, with announcements about its own motion control solution or about Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV: Online MMORPG.

But the company behind franchises like Grand Theft Auto or Manhunt, Rockstar, has also announced a PlayStation 3 exclusive game in the form of Agent. The title, which promises to take “players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s,” will certainly be something quite interesting for owners of Sony's console.

Sadly, no concrete details about this game are known, but the fact that the team at Rockstar North will be handling it gives a lot of gamers hope, as the development studio is also responsible for titles such as Grand Theft Auto IV or Manhunt. Whether or not the expertise from open-world sandbox games or horror survival ones will translate into a successful espionage game is still questionable.

“We have always enjoyed making action games, and with Agent we are making what we believe will be the ultimate action game,” said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. “Agent is a game we have wanted to make for a long time. The team in Edinburgh is doing an amazing job combining intense action, atmosphere and story in a great period setting to create something that feels quite unique. We cannot wait for people to experience this game.”

Overall, Agent seems pretty good, and is already receiving support from PS3 users, who can hardly wait to get their hands on an exclusive creation from Rockstar North only for their console.
