Gearbox Software and 2K Games are set to deploy the Hail to the Icons downloadable content pack for Duke Nukem Forever next week, bringing new multiplayer modes and more outlandish maps with unique gameplay.

Duke Nukem Forever was eagerly awaited by millions of gamers but, after spending a huge amount of time in development and switching studios multiple times, the end result wasn't exactly pretty, looking more like a game that should've appear back in the early 2000s, not in 2011.

Still, Gearbox Software, its final developer, promised that it will support it, and has now confirmed that the Hail to the Icons pack is coming next week, although a concrete date isn't certain just yet.

In case you missed the first announcement, Hail to the Icons brings three new multiplayer gameplay modes, and four new maps, inspired by a variety of popular shooters like Call of Duty, Quake or Team Fortress 2.

Check out the list below to see just what's included in the DLC.

Freeze Tag mode - Players cooperate to freeze and shatter their opponents in succession for huge point streaks and combos. Hot Potato mode - See who can hold on to the babe the longest Hail to the King mode - Free-for-all Duke style Call of Duke - Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don't stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b. The Hail to the Icons DLC will be free for members of the Duke Nukem First Access Club, although pricing for non-members has yet to be revealed.
