Windows Phone 7, the next flavor of Microsoft's mobile operating system, is expected to offer its users access to Dropbox via an already popular solution, namely CloudFiles.

The application is already available for download on handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, and it seems that it should also become available for Windows Phone 7 devices.

However, the solution might not hit Windows Phone 7 devices right when they land on the market, though it might do so soon after.

“Building on CloudFiles, the very successfull Dropbox for Windows Mobile 6.5 Client, we are working hard to port our Windows Mobile 6.5 Dropbox Client to the much-anticipated Windows Phone 7-Plattform,” a recent post on Ruttensoft's website notes.

According to the application's maker, it would take some time before the solution is available for the new Windows Phone 7 OS, mainly due to the fact that it is a brand new mobile platform.

“As Windows Phone 7 is a complete new platform which cannot run Windows Mobile 6 Apps, we had to recode a bigger part of the application, especially the GUI. Thanks to Microsoft Blend 4, building GUI's for Windows Phone 7 apps is really easy, compared to previous GUI-designing,” the said post notes.

However, things are moving in the right direction, it seems, and the first alpha flavor of the application can be seen showcased in the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

The building of applications for the new operating system is said to be simpler than what some might have expected, even if Windows Phone 7 does not come with all the features some hoped it would.

“We are still working on our alpha-version of CloudFiles for WP7, but we want to give you a short video preview of what is already implemented,” the post concludes. Keep an eye on this space for more on this.
