When it rains, it pours, and when it comes to the list of rumors on a possible HD3 smartphone from Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation, there's always room for one more item.

We've heard the HD3 name quite a few times before, as many people were hopping for this device to bring the Windows Phone 7 OS to the market packed in a great device, and some more rumors on it have just emerged.

It seems that the HD3, which seemed at a certain point in the past as being nothing more than the result of an enthusiast's mind, is actually getting ready to make an appearance on the market, and that it might be released as soon as next month.

October 18 should be the handset's landing date, a recent article on Engadget notes, citing anonymous sources and bringing a spreadsheet to the Web.

According to the news site, the image to the left represents “an internal planning doc from UK carrier O2,” and should prove that the said HD3 is nearing its market availability.

However, the mobile phone might not become available for purchase under the name that we're already familiar with, but under a different moniker, which would bring it closer to the platform it should run under, namely Windows Phone 7.

The handset should be called HTC HD7 when released on shelves, it seems, something that might not sound that strange in the end, considering the names of other device from the company.

Moreover, HTC would not be the first handset vendor to make such a move. One of LG's upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices should be released as the Optimus 7, rumor has it.

Of course, there are still a wide range of details that are not available on the said HTC HD3 or HD7, but, in case the rumor pans out, it shouldn't be too long before more on its emerges, that's for sure, so keep an eye on this space for more on the matter.
