Dropbox is one most popular cloud storage apps out there and the team keeps on adding new feature. And with the latest beta release, Dropbox is previewing some of the upcoming features in the desktop application.

Dropbox has also increased the free storage limit for those who refer the service to their friends to 10 GB.

"The last few months have been pretty crazy at Dropbox, and we thought we'd fill you in on what's been happening," Dropbox said.

"We've got a lot cooking! Expect some cool new things around public sharing, selective sync, and an app for a certain mobile device named after a berry. Some of these things are already available for testing on the Dropbox forums and they'll be out for everybody soon!," Dropbox announced.

When you refer Dropbox to a friend, who then creates an account and installs the app, you get a 250 MB bonus to your free space allocation. With just 2 GB of free storage by default, the boost is not insignificant.

Some users managed to do such a great job that they quickly added a lot of free storage to their accounts. So far the upper limit was at 5 GB, so that users didn't get too carried away, but the limit has now been increased to 10 GB.

So if you think your friends could certainly use what Dropbox has to offer, you can now get rewarded properly.

In the meantime, the development team has been working on improving the desktop app and bringing the service to more platforms.

Those who have been following the experimental and beta releases, available on the Dropbox forums, already know what in store for the next big Dropbox 0.8 release.

Some of the highlights are selective sync, a hugely useful feature, and improved public sharing.
