As soon as the new Motorola DROID Pro landed on shelves at Verizon Wireless, a new Motoblur UI solution became available, which can now be installed on more handsets from the leading mobile phone maker, including the Motorola Droid 2.

The software solution comes in an unofficial manner via MyDroidWorld, and sports version 3.0.0, while being based on Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

The new DROID 2 Blur version 3.0.0 comes with a series of profiles that were available until now only on DROID Pro, or on the newer DROID 2 Global, it seems.

For the time being, however, there are no specific details available on the origin of this solution. However, those who would like to give it a try would be able to find all the necessary info on it on this thread at MyDroidWorld.

The necessary download links are available there too, while the installation process is detailed below as well.

Following the download of the files, one would need to place them on the root of the microSD memory card, and then enter recovery on the handset.

The next step includes the following (as described in the said forum post):

- Clockwork Directions: go to install zip, find the zip on your SD card, and install - SPrecovery Directions: go to install zip, select allow update.zips (deprecated), install update.zip

Next, one would need to reboot the mobile phone.

“This is Motorola Build Blur (3.0.0) System 2.2 - it has been deodexed, busyboxed, and given root,” the aforementioned forum port reads.

There is nothing much that we can add here, except maybe for the fact that those interested in downloading and installing the solution should take all the necessary precautions so as to make sure that they won't lose important filed on the handset.

Since unofficially the original Motorola Droid 2 is capable of supporting the new Motoblur solution, there are great chances that Motorola would offer an official release too, though nothing was announced on the matter until now.
